doing, being, becoming girlsdayout

About Me

Hi hunnies, welcome to my blog! My name is Julia, but you can call me Jules or Jul. I am a 25 year old new grad occupational therapist currently working at a private school for children and young adults with Autism. I have been wanting to create a blog/podcast for a while combining my career and all things lifestyle, wellness, and daily routines.

In occupational therapy (OT), we help individuals recover from physical or mental illness through the performance of activities required in daily life. This profession helps people of all ages maximize their individual potential by helping to promote health, prevent, or live better with injury, illness or disability through engagement of activities that are meaningful to them. I am extremely passionate about what I do and love the holistic approach that OT offers. As an occupational therapist, I want to use girlsdayout to encompass everything that occurs within one's 24 hours of their day. I strongly believe the phrase that "the secret to a meaningful life is hidden in your daily routine" and my goal is to empower others to unlock their potential.

The Doing, Being, and Becoming of girlsdayout

The idea for girlsdayout started initially as advice to my younger self/creating a guide for my future daughter on all of the things I have learned throughout my life so far. I wanted this to be a way to be a resource for her to always refer back to. I then thought that this could be much more than that and benefit girls of all ages. I want this to be a space for conversation among anyone and everyone to share advice, ask questions and offer support.

My plan is to find experts to speak on specific topics as well as invite my friends from a variety of professions to help adolescents and young adults in high school deciding on majors for college and dive into all the things that they don't teach you about real life.

I aspire to take a holistic approach in my work and discuss anything and everything from daily habits, roles, routines and rituals that are the performance patterns unique to occupational therapy as well as imposter syndrome for anyone in their 20s graduating college and struggling with the in between of mourning their lifelong role of student and taking the next step into their career. Other areas I would love to touch upon include hormones, living with invisible illnesses, anxiety/depression, how to make multiple streams of income and more. Comment on my instagram @girlsdayoutwithjules of what you want me to discuss first and I look forward to seeing what girlsdayout becomes!
